Arts & Crafts for Teens & Adults

Nurture your natural artistic ability or push your limits to learn a new skill and talent.  WCPR offers a number of arts and crafts classes led by an incredible team of instructors.  If you only enjoy the occasional art experience due to an already filled personal calendar, register to attend one-time, open workshops.  If you can’t find time during the week then check out our array of weekend workshops.  Or, maybe you have time and want to commit to an extended program that offers weekly classes to advance your skill on a weekly basis.  Whatever your schedule, we have just the right program to meet your needs through a variety of art mediums and techniques. This is an open workshop -- No pre-registration required. Payment must be made at the front desk prior to entering the workshop. Come in and use our tables, chairs, easels, table covering, paper towels and space to create your artwork. Gel Plate Mono printing is a fun and super popular art form in Mixed Media today. This workshop is a great way for beginners to explore what a gel plate is and how to pull one-of-a-kind prints from it. Those who may not be new to gel plate mono printing will still enjoy learning tips and tricks, as well as having the opportunity to utilize truly unique printing tools (stencils, stamps, and masks) that the artist brings from her own growing stash of original designs...

Spend an evening with Tara Allen, owner of Studio 51, who will instruct you on how to create a fun winter trees scene on a pair of wine glasses. Enjoy some light refreshments as you go step-by-step through the process of building a scene on wine glasses. Each participant will paint and take home one-of-a-kind wine glasses to use for drinking, decorating, candle holders, or fill with candy and give as gifts! Monoprinting with gel plates is a highly satisfying and increasingly popular trend in mixed media art.  In this 4 hour workshop, participants will spend time creating monoprints with colors and patterns that welcome love and affection.  Turning prints into sets of artist greeting cards yields not only one-of-a-kind results, but the process is rewarding time of play in what is addictive and enjoyable art form.  Students will create a variety of unique Valentines Cards from their series on monoprints.

Learn something entirely NEW in 2020! Once you learn how to weave on a bead loom, you can make bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and many other items -- this class begins your beading journey with a bookmark project.

Your work will be spread over 2 classes. The first Sunday you will get started on the project, then you will have a couple of weeks to work on it at home, and your second sunday class you will learn how to complete the bookmark.

*We have a loom for you to borrow, and all the beads and other supplies you need will be provided for an additional $20 supply fee (payable in cash or check to the instructor on the first day of
class).

New to the WCPR art scene is Carolyn Beehler, an artist whose specialty is Paper Painting -- using torn paper to create an image as detailed as an oil paining. In this class, students will learn how to focus on shape, texture, and lighting, working from Emil Calson's Still Life of an Orange and Cup. Students will work on a 5x7 canvas -- all supplies are provided.
