Williamson County Parks and Recreation offers a variety of Senior Programs for Williamson County Residents. Read below for a list of classes and activities around the county!

Williamson County Parks and Recreation provides a newsletter outlining all of our Senior programs at various facilities. Paper copies of the newsletter are available at each facility or click HERE to download your copy! ENRICHMENT CENTER/ACADEMY PARK ACTIVITIES

Mother’s Day Tea + Lunch
It's time for tea! Sample a variety of hot and cold teas as well as finger sandwiches,
cold salads and delectable treats! In celebration of Mother's Day we will play baby shower style
games such as Finish the Nursery Rhyme, Pass the Prize, etc. Winners will be awarded small
gifts. Registration required. The cost of this event is $12 per person. *We are all someone's child,
so anyone 55+ is welcome to attend.*

AARP Smart Driving
Description: WCPR is pleased to announce that we are hosting an AARP Smart Driving class for adults 55 and up. This two day course helps drivers improve their skills that could help avoid traffic violations or other accidents. Students in this course MUST attend BOTH days to earn credit for this course. Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch or at least a snack both days of class; water will be provided in the class room and coffee will be available in the Senior Lounge. Registration is REQUIRED. Check with your insurance company for possible discounts for taking this course. Bring your AARP membership card to registration and to the class, to confirm membership. If you are an AARP member please be sure to check the box that asks "Are you an AARP member?" during the check out process. This will apply the $5 discount. *Note: You will be asked to confirm your membership on the first day of class.

Father’s Day Car Show
Description: In celebration of Father's Day we're inviting local car enthusiast to showcase their vehicles while we grill up some burgers and hot dogs! Want to showcase your vehicle? Complete this registration to participate in the car show! Prize will be given at the end of the event for voter’s choice. Automobiles will be on display in the front circle and lunch will be served in the Banquet Hall. WCPR will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs but we ask that you bring a side dish to share to make this a filling potluck cook out. Yard games such as corn hole, giant jenga and more will also be available. Event admission/lunch provided for car show participation.

Senior Lounge
Come enjoy the spacious Senior Lounge for socialization over coffee, pool, games,
puzzles and more. Visit our website at www.wcparksandrec.com for a schedule of organized
games and clubs hosted in the senior lounge.

Senior Movie Matinee
Join us for 'SENIOR MOVIE MATINEE'! Please call the Enrichment Center front desk at 615-786-0186 for each month's movie selection or check the description in the monthly newsletter.

Open Art Studio
Express yourself through your own media in our Open Art Studio! Bring your own supplies and ideas. Instructor Pam Irvin will help teach you new techniques and hone in on your artistic abilities.

Veterans Coffee Club
Come socialize and share with other veterans over a cup of coffee.

Wii Bowling Club
Drop in and play a frame or two. No teams or commitment to a league. Virtual bowling; no experience necessary.

In the Loop Yarn Club

Dulcimer Dandies 
Whether you are skilled or new to the dulcimer, you will enjoy practicing and learning with this group. Must bring your own instrument. The Dulcimer Dandies perform at senior events and other activities throughout the year.

American Mahjong

Readers Randevu Book Club
New comers are always welcome to join our lively, informal discussions. This month we’ll be discussing The Engineer’s Wife: A novel of the Brooklyn Bridge by Tracey Enerson Wood; a USA Today and international best seller. She built the Brooklyn Bridge, so why don’t you know her name? Porcelain Painters Guild
Practice the art of porcelain painting, also called china painting. Paint is applied to any type of porcelain piece, such as a dish or flat tile, and the piece is later fired in a kiln. Must bring your own supplies. New painters are welcome to observe and will have the opportunity to learn from more experienced painters.

Nimble Thimbles
Hand sewing is more than just simple hems and mends; be creative with cross stitching, embroidery and more! Must bring your own supplies and ideas.

Textile Arts Group
Explore quilting as an art form with the motto “form over function”. Share techniques, tools and materials to help other artists discover their own artistic expression through a variety of fabric and textile media. This group is not based on a collective project, but rather the artistic journey of everyone’s own projects. Must bring your own supplies. New comers welcome to observe, share ideas and create!

Yarn Club
Come socialize & share with friends in the fun of knitting and crocheting! Please stop by the front desk to scan your Enrichment Center pass or pay for general admission.
The yarn club meets every Wednesday from 10am-12pm and Friday from 10am-12pm.


FAIRVIEW ACTIVITIES

Senior Lounge
Come enjoy the spacious Senior Lounge for socialization and pool. Feel free to bring your own coffee; games, puzzles, pool table and other equipment available first come, first serve. Access to the Senior Lounge is included with the general admission fee or free if you have a WCPR pass.    

Bingo
Hosted every first Monday of the month from 10:00am until 11:00am! Invite your friends and join us for our monthly bingo, and who knows, you just might take home a prize. This is a FREE event, and we encourage new community members to join us. To register, click HERE.


Yarn Club
Come socialize and share with friends in the fun of knitting, crocheting, and more! Bring your project, ideas, and supplies.

LONGVIEW ACTIVITIES

Bingo

Hosted every second Tuesday of the month from 10:00am until 11:00am! Invite your friends and join us for our monthly bingo and who knows you just might take home a prize. This is a FREE event and we encourage new community members to join us. Registration required.

Wii Bowling
Ready to Bowl? Join us in the Game Room at Longview for virtual bowling. No experience necessary. The Winter/Spring 2024 Wii Bowling League meets on Thursdays from 10am-12pm, the dates are 1/18-5/16 (skip 3/7).

Lunch Bunch

Senior Trips
