Franklin Therapeutics Activities

Therapeutics Open Swim 
This swim time is for patrons with developmental disabilities and/or intellectual disabilities and their families/caregivers. Therapeutics Open Swim is offered every Saturday from 1pm-2pm at the Franklin Recreation Complex indoor pool. The cost is $2/person or patrons can scan their WCPR pass. This swim time is drop-in, no registration is required. Please note: Lap swimming is also allowed during this time. 

Summer Therapeutics Splash Pad Nights
Please join us for two Therapeutics splash pad nights at the Franklin Rec Center! Participants of all ages and their families/support staff are welcome to enjoy the splash pad. Please note: For both dates, the splash pad will only be open to Therapeutics participants and their families/support staff; however, the outdoor will still be open to the general public. General admission fees apply or patrons can scan their WCPR pass.

Swim, Pizza, and Movie
Meet us at the Franklin Rec Center and enjoy an afternoon with friends! Participants will swim first (please remember a towel and change of clothes) followed by a pizza lunch and a movie on the big screen. This program meets from 11am-2pm and is for young adult and up. Registration is required.
PALS Program: People at Leisure with Support (A caregiver is required to stay with those needing support).

This program will resume in the fall. 

Bingo

Please join us for a delicious dinner and bring a friend to our monthly Bingo night! Enjoy dinner and a festive atmosphere...add an hour of exciting Bingo and you have a fun-filled evening! Dinner, drinks, dessert, and prizes are provided. This program meets from 5:30pm-7:30pm and is for teens and up. Registration is required.

Friendsday Wednesday

Wednesday should always be Friendsday! Come hang out with us as we create a fun craft or project and make a yummy snack to enjoy to together. The theme for each month will change. This program meets from 10:30am-12pm and is for young adults and up. Registration required.

Wednesday, August 23: End of Summer Party (Registration Code 27859)

Culinary Creations
Come enjoy cooking with friends! Participants will have an opportunity to cook a variety of different foods that are tasty and easy to make at home. This class meets from 10:30am-12pm and is for young adults and up. Registration is required.

Wednesday, August 16: Personal Pizzas (Registration Code 27796)


Meal Prep 101
During this new class, participants will get to make a meal for two to take home and eat or freeze for another day. Participants will also get to try the finished meal that the instructor prepares. This class meets from 10:30am-12pm and is for young adults and up. Registration is required.

Thursday, August 24: Tater Tot Casserole (Registration Code 27800)

Strange Science & Sensory

In this class, participants will participate and interact in strange science experiments and also enjoy a variety of sensory activities. This program meets from 1pm-2:30pm and is for young adults and up. Registration is required.

Open Crafts Studio
 
Open Craft Studio will offer several craft options for participants to choose from, and all projects will be able to be taken home at the end of the program. This program meets on various days/times and is for teens and up. Registration is required.

Open Paint Studio
Open Paint Studio will offer all the supplies needed to complete a painting of your choice. Canvases and paint supplies (water colors, acrylics, and oil paints) will be provided. Open Paint Studio meets on various days/times and is for teens and up. Registration is required.

Friday Crafternoon
In this fun craft class, participants will start and finish a craft project to take home at the end of class. Friday Crafternoon meets from 1pm-2:30pm and is for young adults and up. Registration is required.

Therapeutics Food Art
Therapeutics Food Art is a class where participants create a dessert, centerpiece, or appetizer that is creative with food. Registration is required.

Friday, August 11: Watermelon Fruit Bowl (Registration Code 27801)

Recreation Night
This teens and older program offers different activities each month, such as dinner and movie, socials, karaoke night, and dances. Dinner is also included with this activity. This program meets from 5:30pm-7:30pm and is for teens and up. Registration is required.

Thursday, August 31: Dinner & A Movie (Registration Code 27910)

Fitness Fun 
Want to have fun while staying healthy? Then, join us for Fitness Fun. This therapeutic recreation program for teens and up will help improve strength, balance and overall health. We start with stretching, followed by a variety of exercises using resistance bands, light hand weights and stability balls. We complete our workout with a 20-25 minute walk. Please note: Weather permitting, we will walk outside on the walking trail. If there is inclement weather, we will walk on the indoor walking track. Participants must be independent and can follow directions within a small group.  This program meets on Wednesdays at the Franklin Recreation Complex from 4pm-4:50pm. Registration is required.
