Senior Trips

Senior
Each month, we offer day trips to places all throughout Middle Tennessee (and possibly beyond!). Trips are based out of the Enrichment Center (Franklin) and Longview Recreation Center (Spring Hill).  Please visit the Senior Policies page for more registration information.

ENRICHMENT CENTER DAY TRIPS
The trips below are based out of the Enrichment Center (Franklin) only. Registration is REQUIRED for all trips.

Lunch Bunch  
Let's do lunch! We might try something new, hit some favorites, or find something off the beaten path. The cost of a lunch bunch outing is $3 for transportation. Lunch will always be Dutch Treat. Registration is REQUIRED.

Morning Glory Orchard
Enjoy thenew autumn season with a crisp apple right from the tree during our tour of a living, working apple orchard. Our visit will include a foot tour through the orchard to discuss the different varieties and stages of the trees and fruit; then we'll head inside to see how an apple press is used to make fresh cider, which we will get to sample! Picnic lunch will be provided. Registration is required.

Amish Heritage Welcome Center & Museum
Experience the Amish countryside witha  local guide in a horse drawn wagon. We'll stop at several Amish farms for a  chance to purchase fresh produce, baked goods, and more. We will also take a private tour of an authentic Amish house and Dawdi Haus, harness shop, hen house with animals, and a replica one room Amish school house on one of Tennessee's oldest Amish farms. Don't forget to take a selfie in the authentic Amish buggy! Picnic lunch will be provided. Registration Required.

Diskin Cidery
Autumn is almost over but there is still plenty of cider left to try. What started off as a fresh crisp apple can be turned into a variety of brews and coctails! Join us on a tour of local brewerry, Diskin Cider, which offers four year round flavors of cider. Picnic lunch will be provided. Registration is required.

SENIOR SPORTS TRIPS
The trips below are based out of the Enrichment Center (Franklin) only. Registration is REQUIRED for all trips.

Hiking Trips 
"Take a hike" with us! We will hit some local favorites and find some new places to walk and hike. Participants must be able to walk independently on different types of terrain. Some places we go may have easy and more difficult trails for seniors to choose from or we will stay together as a group. You will need to provide your own snacks and water for these outings. This outing is weather dependent and if we need to cancel the outing we will notify everyone as soon as possible. Meet in the lobby of the Williamson County Enrichment Center at 11am. Return times will vary. The cost of the hiking outing is $3 for transportation.

Canoe The Harpeth River
Hit the water with us as we paddle down the scenic Harpeth River in Kingston Springs, TN. We will float 1.5 miles of the class 1 river, so you can paddle or just relax and float! Lunch will be picnic style so bring a sack lunch.

White Water Rafting
Embark on a new adventure with us as we journey our way to the Ocoee River near Chattanooga, Tennessee and experience the excitement of the White Water Rafting. We will experience the middle Ocoee River rafting trip which includes 5 miles of class III and VI rapids. This is the perfect section for first timers and experienced rafters.. This experience requires very good mobility.

Guided Canoe Trip on the Duck River 
Join us for a guided tour along the Duck River in Columbia, Tn featuring historic mill sites and a great abundance of wildlife. Many paddlers are fortunate enough to see great blue herons, belted kingfishers, bald eagles, minks, beavers, muskrats and river otters. Bring a sack lunch for this trip and plenty of snacks and water

Horseback Riding at Natchez Trace Stables 
Join us for a fun trail riding experience at Natchez Trace Stables in Primm Springs, Tn. No experience necessary as their horses have been raised and trained on their farm making them perfect for both beginners and experienced riders. You will need to pack a lunch and water for this trip; we will eat picnic style at the stables.

Zip Lining at Adventure Works
Zip through the canopy of trees is a thrilling adventure with a bird's eye view! Groups of all kinds love soaring through teh green hills of Fontanel. Zippers sail through the air on steel cables, secured in a safety harness and attatched to a zip pulley system. 
*Dress Code: No open toe shoes, no heeled shoes, no dresses or skirts/ weight recommendations: 60-250 pounds. 
*Lunch will be dutch treat at the Nashville Farmers Market

Jack Daniels Distillery Tour
Take a behind the scenes look at Tennessee's very own, world renowned Jack Daniels Distillery. You'll be treated to a story-filled, guided walk through the distillery with a sample of several expressions from their single barrell collection and two limited edition whiskeys. After our tour we will eat some great food with a side of history at Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House Restaurant.

Cheekwood Estate and Gardens
Autumn comes alive across the Cheekwood estate and gardens. Stand in the 11ft tall Pumpkin House amongst the pumpkin patch, take a selfie with one of the many scarecrows, and enjoy the fall foliage including the deep autumn hues of over 5,000 mums! Our visit will consist of a guided tour including highlights of the historic mansion and stables, as well as the botanical gardens, and the chance to enjoy the onsite galleries. Box lunch is included.

Governor's Mansion Tour
Step foot inside a piece of Tennessee History. We will tour the first floor of the residence, the underground meeting space called "Conservation Hall", and the Residence Garden. Previous guests of the home include John F. Kennedy, Bill Clinton, and Elvis. Come be a part of history! After our tour, we will visit Green Hills Grille for lunch.

George Dickel Distillery
Often overshadowed by its rival, Jack, George Dickel has stood the test of time with its "Mellow as Moonlight" whiskey. Located off the beaten path of Cascade Hollow, we will enjoy a tour and tasting. Lunch (Dutch treat) will be at Emil's Bistro in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Casey Jones Village
Immortalized by stories and songs, Casey Jones was a railroader who became a hero through his dramatic death while trying to stop his train from crashing. The Village houses a train museum in his honor with three authentic rail cars, and engine, and other railroad history including Civil War train history. Also, on the site is his home at the time of his death, an old country store, gift shop, and buffet style restaurant. Registration required.

Bakery Tour
Trick or Treat! Join us as we treat ourselves to artisanal food and goodies all over the county. Spring Hill Bakery, Triple Crown, Merridees, 5 Daughters, and more. Lunc will be your choice at one of the restaurants located in the Factory at Franklin or you can pick something up at any of our stops. (Dutch treat for lunch and bakery items)

Southern Pride Distillery & Cahoots
Located in Fayetteville, TN, Southern Pride has been producing since 2012 but the recipe is much older. It was found tucked away in great grandmother's Bible, they decided to make high quality spirits to keep family and customers proud. Cahoot's, serving food since 1987, is located in the town's old fire and jail house that operated from the 1860s to 1970. Lunch is dutch treat.
