The STAR Program
The STAR (Student Theatrical Arts Resource) Program offers a fast-paced, but FUN education in musical theatre: 10 weeks (plus tech/show week) of singing, dancing, and acting, while working towards a culminating production of 2 performances on a professional stage. (This program was formerly called the Musical Theatre Experience Program.) The program is for those 7-12 who may be new to musical theatre and want to gain some experience before trying our audition-based programs. The STAR Program – “Disney’s Jungle Book Kids” Cost: $225 + $25 supply fee
Ages: 7 to 12

The STAR program offering for the fall of 2023 will be Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids. This weekly program is offered in both College Grove and Franklin. The activity fee includes a show T-shirt and scripts. The supply fee ($25 paid directly to the instructor) covers costumes and props. There is a $25 sibling discount (after first child) if siblings register in the same transaction.
About Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids: The jungle is jumpin' with a jazzy beat in this play specially adapted from the classic Disney animated film, Disney's The Jungle Book and features a host of colorful characters and your favorite songs from the movie. Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin' musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.
Performances and Tech/Show Week Rehearsals for both classes will be at the College Grove Artsitorium:
• The College Grove cast will perform Friday, November 10 at 7pm and Saturday, November 11 at 1pm at the College Grove Artsitorium. (Tech/Show week rehearsals will be Monday, November 6 and Wednesday, November 8 from 5-8pm at the College Grove Artsitorium.)
• The Franklin Cast will perform Saturday, November 11 at 4pm and 7pm at the College Grove Artsitorium. (Tech/show week rehearsals will be Tuesday, November 7 and Thursday November 9 from 5-8pm at the College Grove Artsitorium.)
(Note: Classes will not meet during fall break October 10 and 12. The College Grove Tuesday, October 31 class will be held on Wednesday, November 1.)
Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
