Senior Trips

Senior
Each month, we offer day trips to places all throughout Middle Tennessee (and possibly beyond!). Trips are based out of the Enrichment Center (Franklin) and Longview Recreation Center (Spring Hill).  Please visit the Senior Policies page for more registration information.

ENRICHMENT CENTER DAY TRIPS
The trips below are based out of the Enrichment Center (Franklin) only. Registration is REQUIRED for all trips.

Elf the Musical at Chaffin's Barn Theatre
Welcome to Nashville's Original Barn and most unique dining and theatre in the round experience. Join us for an afternoon of great food and entertainment! Based on the beloved holiday film, this comedy follows Buddy the Elf in his quest to find his true identity. Please note: This trip is based out of the Enrichment Center only; there is no Longview pick up for this trip.

The trips below are based out of the Enrichment Center (Franklin) only. Registration is REQUIRED for all trips.

Hiking Trips 
"Take a hike" with us! We will hit some local favorites and find some new places to walk and hike. Participants must be able to walk independently on different types of terrain. Some places we go may have easy and more difficult trails for seniors to choose from or we will stay together as a group. You will need to provide your own snacks and water for these outings. This outing is weather dependent and if we need to cancel the outing we will notify everyone as soon as possible. Meet in the lobby of the Williamson County Enrichment Center at 9am. Return times will vary. The cost of the hiking outing is $3 for transportation.

Senior Trail Riding at Creek Side Riding Stables 
Joni us for a fun beginners trail riding experience you don't want to miss! 

This Trail ride is located at Creek Side Stables right here in Franklin, Tn and includes a beginners mini-lesson before you start your way down the trail. You will need to provide your own snacks and water for this outing. This outing is weather dependent and if we need to cancel the outing we will notify everyone as soon as possible.

Indoor Rock Climbing a the Ascent
Join us for a fun trip of rock climbing at The Ascent indoor rocking climbing gym in Murfreesboro! Interested, but unsure of your abilities? Discover what you can do on the rock wall where event the most inexperienced can reach new heights. Admission, climbing gear, and a belay lesson will be provided.

Extreme Escape Game
Join us on this fun and challenging trip right here in Franklin, TN! Be entertained and mesmerized as we work as a group to solve puzzles to finish the Escape game. Our theme is "The Grand Illusion" and it is sure to please! Come share the fun, laughter, and help us ESCAPE! Afterwards, lunch will be Dutch treat at Old Chicago Pizza.

Let's do lunch! We might try something new, hit some favorites, or find something off the beaten path. Lunch Bunch outings are offered at both the Enrichment Center and Longview (Spring Hill). The cost of a lunch outing is $3 for transportation. Lunch will always be Dutch Treat. Registration is REQUIRED for all Lunch Bunch trips.

ENRICHMENT CENTER/LONGVIEW COMBINED DAY TRIPS
Transportation for the trips below are available to/from two locations: Enrichment Center (Franklin) and Longview Recreation Center (Spring Hill). Registration is REQUIRED for all trips.

Bluebird Cafe & Green Hills Grille
Join us for coffee, donuts and music at the famous Bluebird Café. This small venue, located in the Green Hills area of Nashville, is one of the world's preeminent listening rooms. It has gained worldwide recognition as a songwriter's performance space where the "heroes behind the hits" perform their own songs. After the show at the Bluebird Cafe, we will go right down the road to another neighborhood favorite, Green Hills Grille. The cost of the trip ($12) covers activity fee/transportation. The show at the Bluebird Cafe is Free. Lunch at GHG is Dutch treat.

State Capitol Building and Tennessee State Museum
Join us as we go on a guided tour of the Tennessee State Capitol Building which stands today much as it did when it first opened in 1859. The building is one of the oldest working Capitol Buildings in the United States and is home to the Tennessee General Assembly and the Governor’s Office. The grounds also hold statues of historic figures such as Alvin York, Andrew Jackson, Andrew Johnson, and Sam Davis. The tombs of President James K. Polk and his wife are also located on Capitol Grounds. After our guided tour, we will visit the brand new Tennessee State Museum located on the northwest corner of the Bicentennial Mall. The facility just opened on October 4, 2018. The project was upwards of $120 million and holds 137,000 feet of exhibit/gallery space. We will grab lunch (Dutch treat) on the way home at Hattie B’s.

Art Galleries at Fisk University and Monell's
The Carl Van Vechten Gallery housed in a late 19th century building was established in 1949. It shows changing exhibitions, temporary installations and permanent pieces from Fisk's collection. The Aaron Douglas Gallery located in the old campus library offers works from faculty, students and leading contemporary artist. Afterwards, we will feast on plates of southern classics and comfort foods at Monell's. In its original location in the Germantown area of Nashville, this 1905 Victorian style home is the perfect setting for serving meals family style.

LONGVIEW DAY TRIPS
The trips below are based out of the Longview Recreation Center (Spring Hill) only. Registration is REQUIRED for all trips.

The Ryman (Mother Church)
Known as the Mother Church of country music, it is one of American music's most treasured landmarks. The Union Gospel Tabernacle opened to the Nashville community in 1892 under the direction of Sam Jones and Thomas Ryman. In 1904 after Capt. Ryman's death, the congregation renamed the church to Ryman Auditorium. In 1943 it became the home of the Grand Ol' Opry! After our tour, we will have lunch at Capitol Grill (lunch is Dutch treat). The grill was built in 1910 and offers historical charm and a fresh take on classic Southern cuisine.

Dive Burger and Brew Tour
Dive: A hole in the wall, well-worn and unglamorous...that usually has the most amazing food! Join us as we tour some local craft breweries and try to find the BEST burgers around.

Jackalope Brewing Company & Rotier's
Jackalope Brewery started its dream in 2009, opening its doors to the public in 2011, and by 2013 was the first Nashville craft brew to can its own beer. Distributing throughout the Middle TN, Chattanooga, and Memphis, they strive to maintain the commitment to quality beer, community, and fun! Rotier's, established in 1945, has been a Nashville landmark for many years. The cheeseburger on French bread is their claim to fame, winning local and national awards.

Salsa & Spirits Tour
We are back on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail! This time our distillery adventures will be combined with lunch at different well-liked taco shops in the area! Each distillery tour includes a tasting.

Pennington Speakeasy Distillery & San Antonio Taco Company
Established in 2011, Pennington is an artisan distillery. Its niche is their signature Tennessee Sipping Cream. SATCO has been fresh tex-mex since 1984. Homemade tortillas and award winning queso make it a local favorite.

Nelson's Green Brier Distillery & Taco Mamacita
Charles Nelson was distilling whiskey before the Civil War and had established a great business in Nashville before prohibition closed the distillery. 100 years later his 3x great grandsons revived the family business.  Taco Mamacita is fresh-mex at it’s finest.

Nashville Craft & Mojo Taco
Nashville Craft opened in 2016 with a focus on local and regional ingredients. Former DNA lab director Bruce Boeko has put his science background to work in a new setting. Mojo Taco, located in The Factory in Franklin is a fresh innovative taco shop with a Tennessee twist.
