Camp Will
Camp Will is a specialized therapeutic day camp for children, adolescents, and young adults living in Williamson County with physical and/or developmental disabilities. Our goal is to build confidence and self-esteem, enhance social skills, foster independence and provide an exciting and fun-filled summer for the campers through swimming, dance, art, music and recreation therapy. This is achieved by providing a safe and nurturing environment with a carefully selected and trained staff. Eligibility Campers must be a resident of Williamson County, ages 6 (camper must be 6 by the start of camp) through 23 years, with a physical and/or developmental disability. New campers: An assessment must be completed by a parent or legal guardian prior to registration. Campers must also be present at the time of assessment. Registration Policies 1. Registration must be done in person. 2. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Parents may register their camper for up to seven weeks (depending on availability). 3. Campers must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. Campers are not required to attend registration. 4. New campers must be assessed prior to registration. No new campers will be assessed during registration. 5. After registration, if any weeks need to be changed, or if additional weeks are required, please submit a written request to the Therapeutics Division (WCPR, Attn: Traci Hamby, 1120 Hillsboro Road, Franklin, TN 37064). Requests may be received through May 20, 2013. No requests will be processed after the deadline! Depending on availability, requests will be approved on a first come, first served basis. Camp Fees $25.00 nonrefundable registration fee $51.00 nonrefundable weekly rate Payment is due in full at the time of registration. Please note: There is incentive for registration of all seven weeks. Total payment, including registration fee, is $331.00. Williamson County Parks and Recreation offers monthly social programs for children, teens and adults with physical and developmental disabilities. FITNESS FUN Have fun and get fit at the same time! We begin with stretching by using exercises and Resistance bands, then transition into strengthening with light hand weights and stability balls. We complete our workout with a 30 minute walk. Please be aware that we walk outside on the walking trail when weather permits and upstairs on the indoor walking track during colder or rainy weather. Please note: This program is designed for individuals who are independent and can follow directions within a small group. Franklin Recreation Complex- To register call (615) 790-5719 ext. 2010. Days: Wednesdays Dates: Program will resume in the fall. Time: 4:00pm to 4:50pm Ages: Teens and Up Cost: $9.00 POTLUCK AND BINGO Join us for an evening of fun, food and bingo! Meat, drinks and bingo prizes will be provided, just bring a side dish or dessert to share. PALS program: People at Leisure with Support - A caregiver is required to stay with those needing support. Caregivers are asked to register if planning to attend and eat. Do to the limited number of winners, Bingo prizes are awarded only to the participants.

Location: Franklin Family Entertainment Center, 1200 Lakeview Drive, Franklin, TN SUPER SATURDAY RESPITE Come join us in games, dance or music, swimming, crafts and more. Participant will need a swimsuit, towel, change of clothes, lunch, snack and drink for a day full of fun! Personal care is provided. Because swimming is our first activity at Franklin, please send your child dressed to swim. Space is limited, so register early! Check-in is between 10am and 10:30am. If you have not checked in by 10:30am you will forfeit your space. Please note: Participants must be a resident of Williamson County. The Therapeutic Division is devoted to providing year round leisure opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. The goal of the TR Division is to promote a positive, safe and fun recreation experience for all participants. To help us provide the best possible experience, please be mindful of the following policies: REGISTRATION 1. Registration is required for most programs offered in the Therapeutics Division. 2. Early Registration and payment is recommended to secure a spot in most programs. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. 3. Registration can be made by phone or in person at the location of your desired program. Voice-mail registration is NOT accepted. 4. Some programs have limited enrollment. If a program closes due to maximum enrollment, names will automatically be put on a waiting list. Participants will be contacted if additional space becomes available. 5. The e-mails include program registration start and end dates, as well as inclement weather information. The "Registration Reminder" is divided into three categories for information pertinent to the program: 1. Young Adults and Up (Potluck and Bingo, Recreation Nights, Games Galore, etc) 2. Respite 3. Camp Will If you would like to receive a monthly reminder, please do the following: 1. E-mail Jayne McFadden: jaynem@williamson-tn.org 2. In the subject area of your e-mail, put "Reminder Request" 3. In the content of the e-mail, put the category (Young Adults and Up, Respite, Camp Will) you wish to receive reminders about. You may request more than one category. REFUNDS If unable to attend a program, refunds will only be issued if requested no later than 24 hours prior to the start of the program. Please remember to call (615) 790-5719 ext. 2010 for Franklin based programs and (615) 302-0971 ext. 2210 for Longview based programs to cancel. MEDICATION/PERSONAL CARE 1. TR staff cannot administer medication, with exception to those needed in life threatening situations (ex. Epipen for tree nut/peanut allergy, medication needed to stop a seizure). 2. For PALS Programs, if a participant is independent and needs medication, the participant must be able to administer their own medication. 3. For programs offering total personal care (Respite, Camp Will), only a nurse can administer medications. If a nurse staff is not present, TR staff cannot administer medication in their absence. 4. Due to staff to participant ratio for some programs, a caregiver is required to stay with those participants needing support and personal care. Participant criteria are listed with each program description. BEHAVIOR Appropriate social behavior is encouraged in all programs. The TR staff will do their best to ensure each participant's success. If, in the opinion of the TR staff, a participant's behavior becomes detrimental to the group or to themselves, a parent/legal guardian will be contacted to pick up the participant immediately. DROP OFF/PICK UP FOR PROGRAMS 1. When arriving at a program, parents/legal guardians are required to sign the participant in and leave a phone number where they can be reached...even if the participant has a cell phone! 2. If a participant is to be picked up by someone other than the parent/legal guardian/caregiver, please notify TR staff at the beginning of the program when the participant is being signed in. 3. Parents/legal guardians/caregivers are required to pick up their participant. Due to staff to participant ratio, TR staff cannot walk participants out to the parting lot.
