Santa’s Mailbox-December 1-19, 2014
Hey Kids... Don’t forget to write your letters to Santa Claus & drop them into Santa’s Mailbox at either the Franklin or Fairview Recreation Complexes, the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill or the Hillsboro-Leiper’s Fork Community Center. Include your return address information and Santa will write you back.


12/5/14 & 12/12/14:Santa's Polar Express 2014

Children 10 and younger, along with their parents are invited to come dressed in their pjs to have cookies and milk while listening to Santa read a holiday story at the
the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill (December 5: Registration starts Nov. 10); the  Fairview Recreation Complex  (December 12: Registration starts Nov. 12). After story time, each child will have the opportunity to sit on Santa's lap and give their Christmas wish list. Parents are FREE and the fee for children is only $6.00 each. Reservations are required.


12/13/14: Breakfast with Santa-Franklin
Children 10 and younger, along with their parents, are invited to join us for a delightful morning sharing breakfast with Santa and his helpers at the Franklin Recreation Complex. After a delicious breakfast, each child will have the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap and give him their Christmas Wish List. Parents, don't forget your cameras - we will have several photo opportunities.  Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity for you and your child to spend time together with Santa Claus. Group Fitness Open Houses 

Our Group Fitness staff is continuously working to improve our Group Fitness Programs and want to share the benefits with you! Come alone or bring a friend to our periodic open houses and participate in a great workout that will really get you moving to the latest music, utilizing the ultimate in aerobics equipment. Our fantastic team of aerobics instructors will be available to meet you and help you to start an aerobics program guaranteed to meet your goals. The Group Fitness Open House is FREE and no registration is required. Door prizes and refreshments will follow the workout.


"Masquerade" Mother-Son Winter Ball in Spring Hill

Boys, bring your Mom, Step-Mom, Aunt, Grandma or that special lady to our Winter Wonderland created just for you! While making special memories, the evening includes a complimentary mask, games, dancing to a DJ, a commemorative photo, and delicious refreshmentsSpace is limited and registrations are required. Super Hero Mother-Son Ball in Fairview

Daddy's Little Princess Ball
What little girl wouldn’t love a date with Dad?  Girls bring your Dad, Step-Dad, Uncle or Grandpa for a magical evening you both will cherish forever. Dance the night away and have the time of your lives while our DJ plays the latest hits and fun games. Each couple will be formally introduced to the crowd and will receive a complementary picture memento of the evening. Each “princess” will also receive a  royal tiara! Space is limited and reservations are required.


Spring Craft Show - Saturday, March 7th
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department hosts a Spring Craft Show every year, typically 2 to 3 weeks prior to the Easter Holiday. This event is held at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill and features an array of hand-made arts & crafts, such as woodwork, jewelry, home décor, stained glass, photography and painted prints, embroidery, pottery and much more. Art Sparks

Make your plans now to join the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department for our annual Arts and Crafts Open House. Stroll through our “Art Gallery” featuring professional and amateur works of art provided by students and instructors from over 20 different types of art classes offered by the department. Children and adults alike can also “spark” their creative side with free “make-it, take-it” projects, demonstrations and face painting. Our Sticky Finger’s Preschool Club will host an Art Show showcasing various projects completed throughout the year; plus instructors will be on hand to demonstrate their craft and answer questions. Admission to this event is free. 

Pirates & Mermaids Mother Son Dance
Aaaarrgghh! Moms, it's time for your and your little Matey to find where
 "X" marks the spot for this fun filled night of dancing, refreshments, games and Blackbeard's favorite.... the Balloon Drop!!  Enjoya a pirate themed photo booth and receive a pirate hat and a framed photo to remember this wonderful event! Space is limited and registrations are required. 

Fairview Family Night with the  Easter Bunny 
Looking for a "Hopping Good Time"? Bring the whole family to the Fairview Recreation Complex and join us for a fun evening of carnival games, prizes, Easter Bunny, and a movie!. A delicious dinner will be provided by Sonic Drive-In. Space it limited, Registration is required; please call 615-799-9331 ex. 2310 to register. 

Longview Family Night Bunny Hop
Looking for a "Hopping Good Time"? Bring the whole family to the Longview Recreation Center at Spring HIll and join us for a fun evening of dancing the night away with "EB". A delicious dinner will be included. Space it limited, Registration is required. 


Mad Hatter's Tea Party 
Children 10 and younger, along with their parents, are invited to join us for a Tea Party with the Easter Bunny. After tea each child will have a personal visit with "EB". Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity for you and your child to spend time together with the Easter Bunny. This event usually takes place a few weeks before Easter.  Reservations are required, space is limited.


Annual FREE Community Easter Egg Hunts
There are two  free community Easter Egg Hunts  hosted by the Parks & Recreation Department. The hunts all take place the same day (typically held on Saturday, one week prior to Easter) at various times. Egg Hunts are held at the following locations: Franklin Recreation Complex and Fairview Recreation Complex.  Children ages 10 and younger are invited to hunt for a total of nearly 50,000 candy and plastic eggs. This is a free event. Children should bring their Easter Baskets, and parents should bring their cameras to get pictures of their children with the Easter Bunny.

Mighty Tikes Triathlon
Come out and cheer on your favorite lil' triathlete as they take on our fun-filled course.  Kids will start off peddling their way through the bike course, will then transition to the "need for speed" running portion and will conclude their triathlon with a "swim" (actually a dash through the sprinklers!) as they head to the finish line to receive their medal.  Every participant is REQUIRED to bring a bike (tricycles accepted too) and a helmet for this event.  No bikes larger than 16 inches please.  Each participant will receive an official Mighty Tikes Triathlon T-Shirt and Medal.  Parents don't forget to bring your cameras and video cameras - you won't want to miss out on catching that award winning moment.  Registration is required.

Williamson County Community Band

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department continues its free community band concert series featuring a talented group of local volunteer musicians. The Williamson County Community Band features marches, concert pieces and jazz under the expert direction of band leader Ken Krause. The Williamson County Community Band performs at various locations each year from April to November. Dive-In Movie Family Night
Looking for a way to stay cool and have fun this summer? Bring the whole family to the pool for a Dive-In movie at the Fairview Recreation Complex or the Longview Recreation Center .  Outdoor pool stays open late for this special reservation-only event which includes dinner and a family movie.

Back to School Pool Party
Wrap up summer vacation at our Back to School Pool Party!  DJ Louis Lee will entertain the crowd with dancing, music, games, relay races and more!  Sponsored by Sonic and The Children's Academy. 



Half Pint Triathlon

Calling all aspiring triathletes, ages 8 to 12! You can swim, bike and run your way to the finish at the annual Half Pint Triathlon.Athletes will be divided into two age groups: Juniors, ages 8-9, and Seniors, ages 10-12 (age as of race day). Juniors will swim 50 meters in the pool, bike 1.5 miles and run 0.5 miles. Senior entrants will swim 100 meters, bike three miles and run one mile.  Each child will receive an official triathlon medal and t-shirt. Children must be accompanied by parents, and all racers are required to wear appropriate swim wear in the pool and shoes while biking and running.  Each child should bring a bicycle and a helmet to the event. Parents, bring your cameras for award-winning photo opportunities!

Glow with the Flow - Family Dance Party

Break out your neon and break free into your weekend with a fun family dance night! Some Glow accessories provided, light colored clothing recommended for "glowing" effect. This event is for children ages 4 to 12 and is only $7.00 per person, $28 max per family. Reservations are required; please call 799-9331 x 2310.


Touch-A-Truck
Kids will have the opportunity to look at, climb on and sound all the bells and whistles on nearly 30 different kinds of large-scale construction and public service vehicles. Kids can also paint a vehicle to take home at the free craft tent and check out a variety of entertainers on the performance stage, such as musicians, magicians and more. Door prizes will also be given away with cool items such as motorized kids vehicles. Admission to the event is free; though cost is incurred for concessions. Adventures in Low Ropes
Challenge yourself and your friends during our low ropes course. We will encounter a time of fun get-to-know-you games, icebreakers, and team building activities.  These games and activities are utilized to help participants get comfortable with the rest of their teammates, as well as to encourage them to start problem solving, work together, support one another and think “outside of the box.” After lunch participants are ready to head out to the “low ropes” course elements.  These elements include a variety of activities that occur no more than 2-3 feet off the ground and are designed to further challenge the groups abilities to work together, listen to one another, and problem solve in order to achieve goals. Spooks & Coupes Halloween Event-Franklin
“Spooks and Coupes" is a brand new event created by our department to replace our retired “Haunted Trails of Horror”.  This new event will have more attractions and features and is designed to be more interactive for the whole family and more suited for younger children than our previous Haunted Hayride.  Families can come in costume and enjoy a Trunk-or-Treat on the trail, showcasing a mini car show of 30-40 top classical and modified cars from the mid-state region.  Car owners will be handing out candy as kids "trick or treat" from car to car along the trail.  We will also have a Food Truck Parade to provide dinner and snack options, an entertainment stage with various performers, an inflatable bounce house and slide, a craft tent to make Halloween goodies and a Haunted Forest where guests can meet their favorite Disney villains.  This event will take place on the fields and walking trail behind the Franklin Recreation Center at 1120 Hillsboro Road in Franklin.

Halloween Blowout in Fairview
This anual event is held at the Fairview Recreation Complex, 2714 Fairivew Blvd. Join us on this spooky evening while we play all kinds of carnival games in the gym. You can also participate in several contests such as the “Scariest Scream” or the traditional “Best Halloween Costume”. Don’t forget to visit the Fortune Teller to find out what your future holds. This event is for children ages 2 to 12.  Reservations are required by calling (615) 799-9331, ext. 2310.

Holiday Arts and Crafts Show
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department hosts the annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Show at the Williamson County AgExpo Center (I-65 & Exit 61 in Franklin) in November. Nearly 150 booths featuring an array of hand-made Arts & Crafts such as Woodwork, Jewelry, Home Décor, Stained Glass, Photography and Painted Prints, Embroidery, Pottery and much more are available for purchase. Children can also visit with Santa Claus and have receive a photo keepsake for only $3.00. Delicious concessions are also available. Kris Kringle's Annual Invitational Car Expo 
Hey Guys….don’t you wish someone would come up with a way to entertain you while your significant other goes shopping during the holidays? Then you need to visit this Annual Invitational Car Expo, where a plethora of your favorite classic cars will be on display. Car vendors will also be on hand with great items such as custom upholstery, replica die-cast cars, custom wheels, photography prints and more. Don’t miss this opportunity to see nearly 70 “cream of the crop” vintage and modified cars of Middle Tennessee. Each vehicle has been hand selected to participate. The attending public will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite car to be given “The People’s Choice Award” at the conclusion of the event on Sunday. This event takes place in conjunction with the Holiday Arts and Crafts Show at the Williamson County AgExpo Center. Kid’s Garage Sale
Children ages 8 to 12 have the opportunity to learn the pros and cons of entrepreneurship by renting a booth space to sell their gently used items such as children’s clothes, sporting goods, action figures, computer games, books, CDs, DVDs, Videos and toys of all kinds. (NO Pets!!!). Reservations are required to be a vendor. This event is held at the Fairview Recreation Complex, Franklin Recreation Complex and Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill in different years. The sale is open to the public and concessions are available, usually offered by a local youth organization as a fund-raiser.
