Kid’s Garage Sale- Longview Recreation Center
Children ages 8 to 12 have the opportunity to learn the pros and cons of entrepreneurship by renting a booth space to sell their gently used items such as children’s clothes, sporting goods, action figures, computer games, books, CDs, DVDs, Videos and toys of all kinds. (NO Pets!!!). Reservations are required to be a vendor.
This event is held at the Fairview Recreation Complex, Franklin Recreation Complex and Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill in different years. The sale is open to the public and concessions are available, usually offered by a local youth organization as a fund-raiser.

Half Pint Triathlon
Calling all aspiring triathletes, ages 8 to 12! You can swim, bike and run your way to the finish at the annual Half Pint Triathlon. 2013 location and date to be announced. Athletes will be divided into two age groups: Juniors, ages 8-9, and Seniors, ages 10-12 (age as of race day). Juniors will swim 50 meters in the pool, bike 1.5 miles and run 0.5 miles. Senior entrants will swim 100 meters, bike three miles and run one mile. Each child will receive an official triathlon medal and t-shirt. Children must be accompanied by parents, and all racers are required to wear appropriate swim wear in the pool and shoes while biking and running. Each child should bring a bicycle and a helmet to the event. Parents, bring your cameras for award-winning photo opportunities!
Battle of the Teen Bands
Teen bands are encouraged to submit their best audition CD. Judges will narrow down the submissions to four bands that will compete the night of the event for great prizes and the title of this year’s “Best Teen Band”! All band members must be 13-17 years old. Battle of the Bands will take place in the auditorium at Independence High School. The public will be invited to watch as the top four finalists compete on stage. After all four bands have performed the judges will make their selection. It is sure to be a rockin’ good time! Admission is $5, and is payable at the door. Bands can send an audition CD to the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive, Spring Hill, TN 37174 Attn: Darlene Monk. CDs . Touch-A-Truck
Kids will have the opportunity to look at, climb on and sound all the bells and whistles on nearly 30 different kinds of large-scale construction and public service vehicles. Kids can also paint a vehicle to take home at the free craft tent and check out a variety of entertainers on the performance stage, such as musicians, magicians and more. Door prizes will also be given away with cool items such as motorized kids vehicles. Admission to the event is free; though cost is incurred for concessions. Haunted Trails (Haunted Hayride)
The Haunted Trails of Horror is a special event designed out of a need to provide safe Halloween entertainment for the entire family. You will take a hayride through the Haunted Forest and meet over 50 spooky characters along the way such as Dracula, Freddie Krueger, Jason, Chucky, Frankenstein and his bride, just to name a few. Young and old alike will enjoy this popular Halloween adventure. Great for families or groups such as scout troops, youth groups and sports teams. All hay wagons are also wheelchair accessible. Concessions and glow-in-the-dark necklaces are sold and everyone enjoys the “Monster Mash” musical entertainment with D.J. extraordinaire, Louis Lee. This event takes place on the grounds of the Recreation Complex in Franklin.
Halloween Spookfest
This event is held at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill on the Saturday before Halloween. Join us on this spooky evening and enjoy pumpkin painting, face painting and a cupcake walk. You can also participate in the traditional “Best Halloween Costume” contest. Don’t forget to visit the Fortune Teller to find out what your future holds. Everyone loves tasting the Witch’s Brew and spooky, kooky cookies!!! This event is for children ages 2 to 12 and is only $5.00 per person. Reservations are required.
Halloween Blowout
This event is held at the Fairview Recreation Complex on the Saturday before Halloween. Join us on this spooky evening while we play all kinds of carnival games in the gym. You can also participate in several contests such as the “Scariest Scream” or the traditional “Best Halloween Costume”. Don’t forget to visit the Fortune Teller to find out what your future holds. Everyone loves tasting the Witch’s Brew and spooky, kooky cookies!!! This event is for children ages 2 to 12 and is only $5.00 per person. Reservations are required.

Holiday Arts and Crafts Show
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department hosts the annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Show at the Williamson County AgExpo Center (I-65 & Exit 61 in Franklin) in November. Nearly 150 booths featuring an array of hand-made Arts & Crafts such as Woodwork, Jewelry, Home Décor, Stained Glass, Photography and Painted Prints, Embroidery, Pottery and much more are availalbe for purchase. Children can also visit with Santa Claus and have receive a photo keepsake for only $3.00. Delicious concessions are also available. Kris Kringle’s Annual Invitional Car Expo
Hey Guys….don’t you wish someone would come up with a way to entertain you while your significant other goes shopping during the holidays? Then you need to visit this Annual Invitational Car Expo, where a plethora of your favorite classic cars will be on display. Car vendors will also be on hand with great items such as custom upholstery, replica die-cast cars, custom wheels, photography prints and more. Don’t miss this opportunity to see nearly 70 “cream of the crop” vintage and modified cars of Middle Tennessee. Each vehicle has been hand selected to participate. The attending public will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite car to be given “The People’s Choice Award” at the conclusion of the event on Sunday. This event takes place in conjunction with the Holiday Arts and Crafts Show at the Williamson County AgExpo Center. Storytime with Santa
Children 10 and younger, along with their parents are invited to come dressed in their pjs to have cookies and milk while listening to Santa read a holiday story at the Fairview Recreation Complex or the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill. After story time, each child will have the opportunity to sit on Santa's lap and give their Christmas wish list. Parents are FREE and the fee for children is only $6.00 each. Reservations are required.
Breakfast with Santa
Children 10 and younger, along with their parents, are invited to join us for a delightful morning sharing breakfast with Santa and his helpers at the Franklin Recreation Complex. After a delicious breakfast, each child will have the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap and give him their Christmas Wish List. Everyone will have their picture taken with Santa and will receive a Christmas goody from the Jolly ol’ Elf. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity for you and your child to spend time together with Santa Claus. This event will take place on Saturday, December 8, from 8:00am to 10:00am. Parents are FREE and the fee for children is only $6.00 each. Reservations are required.
Santa’s Mailbox
Hey Kids... Don’t forget to write your letters to Santa Claus & drop them into Santa’s Mailbox at either the Franklin or Fairview Recreation Complexes, the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill or the Hillsboro-Leiper’s Fork Community Center. Include your return address information and Santa will write you back.
Group Fitness Open Houses
Our Group Fitness staff is continuously working to improve our Group Fitness Programs and want to share the benefits with you! Come alone or bring a friend to our periodic open houses and participate in a great workout that will really get you moving to the latest music, utilizing the ultimate in aerobics equipment. Our fantastic team of aerobics instructors will be available to meet you and help you to start an aerobics program guaranteed to meet your goals. The Group Fitness Open House is FREE and no registration is required. Door prizes and refreshments will follow the workout
"Masquerade" Mother-Son Winter Ball in Spring Hill

Daddy's Little Princess Ball
What little girl wouldn’t love a date with Dad? Girls bring your Dad, Step-Dad, Uncle or Grandpa for a magical evening you both will cherish forever. Dance the night away and have the time of your lives while our DJ plays the latest hits and fun games. Each couple will be formally introduced to the crowd and will receive a complementary picture memento of the evening. Each “princess” will also receive a royal tiara! Spring Craft Show
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department hosts a Spring Craft Show every year, typically 2 to 3 weeks prior to the Easter Holiday. This event is held at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill and features an array of hand-made arts & crafts, such as woodwork, jewelry, home décor, stained glass, photography and painted prints, embroidery, pottery and much more. Art Sparks
Make your plans now to join the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department for our annual Arts and Crafts Open House. Stroll through our “Art Gallery” featuring professional and amateur works of art provided by students and instructors from over 20 different types of art classes offered by the department. Children and adults alike can also “spark” their creative side with free “make-it, take-it” projects, demonstrations and face painting. Our Sticky Finger’s Preschool Club will host an Art Show showcasing various projects completed throughout the year; plus instructors will be on hand to demonstrate their craft and answer questions. Admission to this event is free.
Longview Family Night Bunny Hop
Looking for a "Hopping Good Time"? Bring the whole family to the Longview Recreation Center at Spring HIll and join us for a fun evening of dancing the night away with "EB". A delicious dinner will be included. Space it limited, Registration is required.
Tea with "EB"
Children 10 and younger, along with their parents, are invited to join us for a Tea Party with the Easter Bunny. After tea each child will have a personal visit with "EB". Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity for you and your child to spend time together with the Easter Bunny. This event usually takes place a few weeks before Easter. Reservations are required, space is limited.
Annual FREE Community Easter Egg Hunts
There are two free community Easter Egg Hunts hosted by the Parks & Recreation Department. The hunts all take place the same day (typically held on Saturday, one week prior to Easter) at various times. Egg Hunts are held at the following locations: Franklin Recreation Complex and Fairview Recreation Complex. Children ages 10 and younger are invited to hunt for a total of nearly 50,000 candy and plastic eggs. This is a free event. Children should bring their Easter Baskets, and parents should bring their cameras to get pictures of their children with the Easter Bunny.
Flashlight Egg Hunts
Join us as we put a new spin on an old spring tradition. The hunts will be held at the Fairview Recreation Complex and the Longview Recreation Center. Children ages 11 - 14 are invited. Bring your sense of adventure and a flashlight to light up the night as we hunt for Easter eggs. This is a FREE event.
Mighty Tikes Triathlon
Come out and cheer on your favorite lil' triathlete as they take on our fun-filled course. Kids will start off peddling their way through the bike course, will then transition to the "need for speed" running portion and will conclude their triathlon with a "swim" (actually a dash through the sprinklers!) as they head to the finish line to receive their medal. Every participant is REQUIRED to bring a bike (tricycles accepted too) and a helmet for this event. No bikes larger than 16 inches please. Each participant will receive an official Mighty Tikes Triathlon T-Shirt and Medal. Parents don't forget to bring your cameras and video cameras - you won't want to miss out on catching that award winning moment. Registration is required.
