We offer Fine Art as well as Decorative Art in all mediums which allow you to create your own style. We offer a wide range of classes such as Drawing, Fused Glass Jewelry, Knitting, Quilting, Sewing, Scrapbooking, Stained Glass, Watercolor and more. Our goal is to provide an opportunity that will allow each person to have a good time doing something they enjoy while learning a skill.

RENAISSANCE PAINTING WITH MELANIE JACKSON
Learn to paint using a layering technique – which produces a more professional piece and develops painting style more quickly.  All levels of skill welcome!  Students will choose their own subject to paint using oil, acrylic, pastel or colored pencil.

DRAWING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN
 
“a course designed for people who have always wanted to draw but never thought they could…or have never drawn before….or who want to improve their skills.  You will be given drawing exercises to train you to ‘see’ as a trained artist sees, enabling you to draw anything!”  (based on the best-selling book by Betty Edwards) Instructor, Melanie Jackson studied drawing at Watkins Art Institute.  Her work is represented in private collections in the United States and abroad.  Recently, the Tennessee State Museum purchased 2 of her drawings for their private collection.

PAINTING WITH J. A. YANCES – Oils and Acrylics
Open to all levels.  Weekly drop-in class.  This on-going course will expose you to principles of design and visual language.  The goal is to equip you with the skills necessary to fulfill your own artistic vision.  This class is taught with the individual artist in mind, teaching principles of the visual language without smothering artistic vision.  In a progressive and comprehensive manner, you will be trained to look, to see, to think in a sensitive way to equip you to make your art completely your own.

In Open Glass Studio participants will provide their own pattern or use patterns available from the instructor to work independently on their own projects.  Participants will need to provide their own glass.  Use of tools, equipment, copper foil, solder, chemicals and instructor assistance are included in the class fee.  Participants are required to have prior stained glass experience in order to attend Open Glass Studio. KNITTING FOR BEGINNERS AND BEYOND
Back by popular demand - this class is designed for adults who have never knitted before or those who have some basic skills.  Students will learn the basics of choosing yarn, needles, learning to read a pattern, binding off, and finishing a project.  Students will also be provided with information on local and internet resources for supplies and supplemental instruction.

THE MAGIC OF FLOWERS – Petunia
If you love flowers, join us in learning a easy way to keep them forever!  In this class we will be capturing the unique detail of live flowers using simple watercolor techniques with watercolor pencils and traditional watercolor.  NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!  We’ll explore the beauty of individual flowers bringing their magic to life on paper.  Students will have the choice of using traditional watercolor or watercolor pencil.

SCRAPBOOKING IN A FLASH – Beginner to Advanced
Scrapbooking doesn’t have to be expensive and time consuming!  Start from current pictures and try your hand at Assembly Line Scrapbooking with a Club Scrap Kit.  Your family will cherish the pages you make.  Students will go home with 6 completed layouts.   Bring:  12” paper trimmer (if you have one), adhesive (red 3L tape runner) from craft store.

Shelley Snow works individually with each student at any skill level.  Both beginner to advanced painters are welcome.  Fundamental to advanced techniques in watercolor painting will be covered with an emphasis on color, composition and values.  Students may work in the subject matter of their choice, including still life, landscapes, and portraits.

FLOWER OF THE MONTH FLORAL ARRANGING – Gladiola
The flower of the month is the Gladiola. Gladiolas, or “glads”, are native to South America, but can be found growing in the United States and Europe. There are about 260 species of gladiolas, making it one of the most popular flowers you will find planted in gardens because of their beauty and fragrance. Join us this day as we create a flower arrangement using glads. No prior experience is necessary to join this class!

LOOKING FOR INSTRUCTORS 

We are looking for instructors to teach arts and crafts.  If you have a talent for fine art and/or crafts and would like to teach give us a call.  You can bring in some extra money doing something you love to do.  You can choose your own hours that you want to teach.  We work out the class fee together and a supportive staff will do your advertising and class sign ups.  We are currently looking for instructors: Calligraphy, Interior Decorating (such as Holiday Decorating), Home Staging, Home Decorating/Color and More, Kids Arts or Craft Parties, Jewelry for Kids, General Kids Crafts and Flower Arranging.
