Chris Bates
Chris Bates is a native of Brentwood, Tennessee and attended Belmont University where he was a member of the varsity tennis team. Chris is USPTA certified and joined the WCPR staff as a teaching professional and coach in 2013. Chris has coached the Ravenwood High School’s boys and girls tennis teams since 2010. During that time, the girls team won 6 state championship titles. In 2017 in his first year as head coach, Chris led the Raptors to the school’s first boys state championship. Chris was named Boys Coach of the Year by The Tennessean. When he’s not coaching, Chris plays in local USTA and MTTL leagues. Chris’s 4.5 team placed second at Nationals in 2019 and his 9.0 mixed team placed second at Nationals in 2018. When he’s not on the courts, you may find Chris working at String’n’Swing Tennis.
